THE Dress | Lake Lure, NC Wedding Photography

Posted

As a photographer, I go to lots of weddings, but I am at very few of them as “a real guest.” It is a special privilege to photograph someone’s wedding and I have a wonderful time doing that, but every now and then it is nice to drink champagne and eat cupcakes (several of them….) and wear my sassy shoes! When my friend Marilynn got married at Lake Lure, NC a few weeks ago, I had the rare–and exciting!–opportunity to attend as her friend, as part of her support system, as a reader during her ceremony. Even though I was a guest, however, I still brought my camera for her getting-ready photos. It’s in my blood, dangit!! 😉 Here are a couple of images of Marilynn’s dress…it was stunning.

Coming Soon…Baby McBryde | Greenville, SC Maternity Photographer

Posted

Can I just tell you how much I am LOVING Sammy and Craig’s “Coming Soon” maternity portraits?? I wanted to post their entire set of proofs; I love these pictures that much! You’ve already seen their Sneak Peek HERE, and from the comments, I see that you all feel the same way! THANKS for all the blog-love for us!

greenville_sc_maternity_photography-05

I am finding that I really enjoy maternity photography…there is something special and fresh about documenting a “new” family in an artistic way. There is so much excitement and love and dreams for the future and of course that “glow.” Becoming parents is a once- or twice-in-a-lifetime experience (or many more if you’re a Duggar 😉 …), and I think it is really important to preserve that time. If you or someone you know has a new addition “Coming Soon,” please send them my way!

Oops, I digress. I met Sammy and Craig up at his aunt’s north Greenville mountain home on a sunny but cool late-spring day. Their property has all sorts of neat spots for portraits…a gurgling stream, little cabins, an arbor, and groves of trees with ah-ma-zing light. I think we used all of them! Sammy was 34 weeks on the day of our session. Did I mention that I love these portraits??? Here goes…

I’m pretty sure I was screaming and squealing during this entire portion of our shoot. Sometimes I do that, LOL! It’s just hard to contain myself when I see stuff like this through my camera…

Adore. So completely cute! I didn’t even notice the smiley face on the tree stump until I got home after the portrait session, but it just sums up these last shots…

Landon, 8 Days Old | Greenville Newborn Photographer

Posted

There is a wall-hanging in Landon’s nursery that says “The first steps a baby takes are into your heart,” and this little guy has certainly tip-toed right into the hearts of his family. His adorable little pouty lips, laid-back personality, and inquisitive eyes are just too much to resist! Landon is my boyfriend Tony’s nephew, and it was so special for me to not only be waiting at the hospital the looong night when Landon was born, but also to take his first portraits when he was just 8 days old. Landon was wide awake during our newborn portrait session, but he was SO GOOD! He just looked around and hung out the entire time!

This sweet blanket was crocheted by a family member and was a gift at one of Jennie’s showers…

lrt01

So stinkin’ cute!! Love this one!

lrt10

Landon’s sweet little baby parts…

lrt11

When Rusty, Landon’s daddy, was a little boy, he got a new pair of cowboy boots from his grandad every year. These are some of his old boots.

lrt05

Landon’s little feet will be this big before we know it!

lrt041

Hehe, these make me chuckle. 🙂

lrt03

Landon’s sweet Nana made all of his bedding and this cute sign matches perfectly. The rattle originally belonged to Landon’s great-grandpa and was given to his Nana when Tony, the first grandchild of that generation, was born. It was passed on to Jennie since Landon is the first grandchild of his generation. I think it is a beautiful heirloom!

lrt07

Love, love, love. Quiet moments with mommy and daddy…

lrt09

lrt14

Finally, all snuggly and sleepy! Does that little bow-mouth not melt your heart?? 🙂

Marilynn’s Bridal Portraits | Asheville, NC Wedding Photographer

Posted

asheville_arboretum_wedding_photography-04

Over the weekend, I did something I hardly ever get to do: I attended a wedding…as a GUEST! That’s right, bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, cried when the bride walked down the aisle, toasts, favors, and all! My dear friends Marilynn and Josh got married during a fun weekend wedding at Lake Lure, and it was important to Marilynn that I was able to enjoy her wedding as her friend rather than her photographer. I did, however, get to shoot their green and gorgeous engagement portraits in Seattle last fall (CLICK HERE for those), and I also photographed Marilynn’s bridal portraits at the NC Arboretum in Asheville, NC. I know I’m biased because she is my friend, but this bride rocks.it.out in front of the camera.

Marilynn and Me, at the end of our marathon 3 hour portrait session!!

And last but not least, I am pretty much obsessed with this image. Love, love, loving the ferns and Mar’s model stare!

asheville_arboretum_wedding_photography-06

Marilynn and Josh, thank you for giving me the best of both worlds–I got to put my camera on you for two amazing portrait sessions, and I also got to celebrate your wedding weekend as your friend. I love you both, and I am so, so happy for you! (And a little jealous that you’re enjoying white sand and blue water right now…;-) )
