I am so proud that Amy Clifton Photography is a member of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce! The Chamber staff and Greer’s local business-owners are so talented, generous, and ambitious. Each year, the Greater Greer Chamber hosts their “Annual Event” to celebrate the previous year’s achievements in the community and to recognize a variety of deserving folks who contribute to the success of our city. This year, the Chamber was excited to announce that the Event’s January 26, 2012, keynote speaker was SC Governor Nikki Haley. I am fortunate that this is the 3rd year I have been asked to photograph the event on behalf of the Chamber–I hope you will enjoy a few of the images I captured.

Emmanuel’s Salon: Headshots and Website Pics

Posted

The fabulous folks at Emmanuel’s Salon in Simpsonville, SC, are updating their website, and I had the awesome privilege of shooting the stylists’ headshots as well as scenes from the salon. This salon is gorgeous–a very cool mix of antiques and Victorian details combined with a hip, modern feel. The stylists are all incredibly sweet and were rockstars in front of the camera! It is so much fun to work with creative folks!

Linda and Phil, a husband-wife team of stylists, are the super-hip owners of Emmanuel’s…

I absolutely loved that the stylists’ stations and dryers were mixed in with chandeliers, Victorian furniture, and old architecture. Emmanuel’s really has such a unique atmosphere!

In addition to hair, Emmanuel’s also does nails, esthetics, and massage. Their website is under construction, but you can find them on facebook or at (864) 967-2243.

As always, if you like what you see please leave a comment and “show me (and Emmanuel’s) some love!”

MLK Dream Weekend: Dreamers Part II

Posted

Part II of the inspiring MLK Dream Weekend “dreamers” who remind us that the dream is alive, and the dream lives in Greenville…

Raven Magwood is not just a dreamer–she is a DO-er! This young lady can teach us “grown-ups” a thing or two about motivation: at 17, she is finishing up her second year of college, she had published two books by the age of 13, she is a nationally recognized gymnast, and she tours the country speaking to youth groups. Feeling inspired yet??

One portrait of each of these dreamers was used in a print and internet campaign for the 5th Annual MLK Dream Weekend. I am honored that I was able to tell the stories of these seven amazing people through photos, and I am honored that Amy Clifton Photography was a sponsor for this community event! I was so excited to work on this project with the creative team from Peculiar, the fabulous folks who designed my logo, website, videos, and print pieces.

I’ll end with one more of Miss Raven’s portraits. We had weird weather for almost every single photoshoot–rain, below freezing temps, wind, and during Raven’s session, fog. I love this image, though, and it became one of my favorite portraits from the entire campaign.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message is not about one race, one gender, one religious group. It is about us ALL. It is about working TOGETHER to dream a better life for each other. And it is about making these dreams a reality NOW.

All. Together. Now.

As a new member of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, I was excited to photograph their 72nd Annual Celebration last Thursday at Embassy Suites. The theme for the event, sponsored by Greer Memorial Hospital, was “All That Jazz,” and the lounge-y feel featured a great jazz trio, velvet ropes and a red carpet, and an old-school microphone at the podium.

MLK Dream Weekend: All.Together.Now.

Posted

I am so honored that Amy Clifton Photography was asked to be one of the sponsors and official photographers for Greenville’s 5th Annual MLK Dream Weekend celebration. Our country has come such a long way since Dr. King’s time, but his message of acceptance, tolerance, and equality is as valuable today as ever before.

I had the privilege of meeting and photographing some amazing folks in Greenville who prove that the dream is alive, and the dream lives in Greenville. I loved the opportunity to tell each story through portraits. For more info on these people and their stories, please visit www.mlkdreamweekend.com . You can also see these photos used as the “official” MLK Dream Weekend ads.
