Rebecca & Marshall: Anniversary Portraits (again!)

Posted

You may remember that my bff Rebecca, her husband Marshall, and I nearly froze to death trying to take their 5th anniversary portraits in the NC mountains back at New Year’s. I am a southern girl, and I just don’t see any reason why the wind chill should be in single digits. Can I get an “amen”?!? I went to visit Rebecca and Marshall in Alabama recently, and we shot “part two” of their anniversary session. Fortunately, it was a beautiful spring afternoon…no frostbite this time!

Happy Anniversary (again) you two!!

Me and my BFF….in case you didn’t read the post from our January session, Rebecca and I were in the same kindergarten class, graduated from high school together, shared a rinky-dink college apartment, and are as close as sisters. 🙂

Someone (that would be me) could use a tan. By the time he shot the photo on the right, Marshall was acting like he was on an NYC fashion shoot…we were obviously amused. I love it.

I love comments! Feel free to “show me some love!”

Zachary–Sneak Peek!

Just a quick sneak peek of my little buddy Zachary, who had a blast throwing pebbles, stones, rocks, boulders, sticks etc. into the creek at Furman. Being a boy is a fun job!

Emmanuel’s Salon: Headshots and Website Pics

Posted

The fabulous folks at Emmanuel’s Salon in Simpsonville, SC, are updating their website, and I had the awesome privilege of shooting the stylists’ headshots as well as scenes from the salon. This salon is gorgeous–a very cool mix of antiques and Victorian details combined with a hip, modern feel. The stylists are all incredibly sweet and were rockstars in front of the camera! It is so much fun to work with creative folks!

Linda and Phil, a husband-wife team of stylists, are the super-hip owners of Emmanuel’s…

How adorable smokin’ hot are they??

I absolutely loved that the stylists’ stations and dryers were mixed in with chandeliers, Victorian furniture, and old architecture. Emmanuel’s really has such a unique atmosphere!

In addition to hair, Emmanuel’s also does nails, esthetics, and massage. Their website is under construction, but you can find them on facebook or at (864) 967-2243.

As always, if you like what you see please leave a comment and “show me (and Emmanuel’s) some love!”

Stacy & David: Engagement Portraits

Posted

“We don’t need a Plan B,” I emailed to Stacy. “Weather.com says we’ll be fine.”

Weather.com lied.

It was chilly, gray, and drizzly as Stacy, David, and I met in Downtown Greenville, SC, for their engagement portraits today, but the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of these two, who I’ve known since we were all in high school together. They laughed and giggled during the entire session, and I just couldn’t wait to post their Sneak Peek!

A lot of times, my couples (*cough cough–grooms*) will say that they hate having their pictures taken, and I try to reassure them that we’ll have fun and they’ll eventually forget that I’m even there. At the beginning today’s session, David told me that he would rather be at the dentist getting a tooth pulled than having his pictures taken. As we said our goodbyes, however, he told me and Stacy “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t actually have fun doing this!” 🙂 So there you have it folks, Amy Clifton Photography is better than dental work.

Kathy & Jonathan: “We DID!” Wedding Portraits

Posted

Who’s ready for spring? Yah, me too, and I’m betting that Kathy and Jonathan are as well! Here in upstate South Carolina, we’ve had an unusual amount of snow/sleet/ice/slush/cold/wind this season, and Kathy and Jonathan’s January mountain wedding and honeymoon were during a major ice/snow storm in SC and NC. As a matter of fact, they changed their wedding date and venue with less than 24 hours’ notice so their guests could get home before the snow hit! Kathy was completely calm when I talked with her, and she said she was just excited to become Jonathan’s wife a day sooner. Aw! Unfortunately, I was not able to be there for their ceremony, but we had an amazing “We DID!” portrait session up at The Red Horse Inn in Landrum, SC (the intended site of the wedding) last Sunday…two days before yet another bout of slush. 😉

Beautiful rolling hills and mountain views at The Red Horse Inn…

Kathy’s dress had gorgeous details…flirty ruffles, beautiful lace, and just enough sparkle.

Kathy & Jonathan, I’ve enjoyed working with you two, and I’m excited to be a part of your reception in a couple of weeks. I love to see your quiet love and respect for each other, and you completely rocked your We DID! portraits. See you soon!
